We have reached the last five weeks of school! There is so much to do before this very different school year comes to an end. Our 3rd, 4th, & 6th grade students will participate in M-Step assessments next week, which will complete state required assessments. Students who are absent on scheduled testing dates will be able to make up the missed test when they return to school, up to June 4. If you have questions on the M-Step, please let me know.

Teachers will also be giving the spring NWEA assessment in their classrooms. Students in grades Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd will take mathematics and English language arts (ELA) NWEA. Students in grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th will take mathematics, ELA, and science. Check with your child's teacher for testing dates. NWEA can be administered through June 4.

This week brought new mask rules for outside. On Thursday, our students, following the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Macomb County Health Department, were able to remove their masks during outdoor recess. We still remain in zones for recess to minimize contact between classes. More information on the updated mask requirements and a copy of the updated Morgan Return to In Person Learning Handbook are below. This mask order from the state of Michigan is in effect until May 31, unless other changes are put in place by the state.

The Macomb County Health Department also announced today that quarantine period has been reduced from 14 days to 10 days effectively immediately. Persons who have been identified as a contact with someone with Covid should continue to monitor for symptoms for the full 14 day period, but can return to in person work/school after 10 days of quarantine.

Our Morgan staff was treated to many wonderful surprises this week as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. We would like to thank all the Morgan families who donated items for our staff and the Morgan Volunteers PTO for organizing special treats throughout the week.

I would like to wish all of our Morgan moms a Happy Mother's Day this weekend! May you have a wonderful weekend with your children!

Have a good week,

 Mrs. Lasky

Principal
